Your Questions About Digital Painters

Thomas asks…

Digital painters, what pen settings do you use in photoshop?

I’m having trouble judging which settings I’d like to use. Please answer with these saying the hardness, spacing, pixel size, and anything else I might want to know.

Sketching:
Lineart:
Main coloring:
Shading:
Blending:

Thanks!

Timo answers:

I’ve just been through the, “Photoshopcafe – PhotoshopSecrets Wacom Tablets and Photoshop CS3”, most of which discusses setting for use on a tablet, and good settings for use within photoshop. I would recommend it. keep in mind that telling someone specific settings doesnt really work. While they may be a good starting point seat time is what will make the difference for you.

George asks…

Why do digital painters use both photoshop and painter?

I have seen many people use both photoshop and painter

Why

Timo answers:

Much depends on what the final outcome will be as well as the particular workflow of  the artist. In my studio we start and finish with Photoshop. I know many pros that use one or the other depending on the project. Kind of a lame answer but it is the best I can do.
