Digital Artist Collaboration Video
Written by Timo on February 22, 2010 – 8:28 am -Digital Artist Collaborate
I am not sure where I came across this a few days ago…I think my Google reader revealed it. I tried to research the background just a bit because I really love this idea.
The painting evolved by four digital artists working simultaneously on the same digital canvas, it was unplanned and free form. Communication was made possible by text chat and the artists worked from each others actions. The total elapsed time was 4 hours.
While the video was put on Youtube in August of 2009, I still had a difficult time finding much about it. Who were the artists involved? What software were they using? How did they draw simultaneously while each was in a different location? Was it iscribble.net and the interactive canvases on the draw-chat site?
There are several ways apparent to do this so what method did they choose? Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Many of you have heard of child prodigy poet and artist Akiane. I am surprised that I have not heard of her before today. She is incredible! My sister sent me a you tube video and I was blown away. After watching the first vid I spent a few hours researching her and included a few more vids here. You can see her gallery and website at http://www.artakiane.com.
You really should check out her site which also includes her books and poetry and some more videos as well.

Digital Painting With Real Brushes
Written by Timo on December 8, 2009 – 11:31 am -Digital Painting with Camel Hair
Digital painting has always had less of the tactile feel that traditional media. What if you could grab the touch and feel of traditional brushes? Believe it or not there is a group working on this. I came across this info in the first part of November. It hit my google reader again today so I thought I would post about it.
Here is a video (with no sound) from you tube and the informational PDF is attached. The article in the PDF is fasinating, it does get into a little geek speek though. In some areas I was bored or got lost as I am an artist not an engineer, but….worth the read to see what is happening in the field. Additioanlly I have seen this referred to as “fluid paint” and “intu paint”. I am not sure which one is the current name.

Art Software Speed painting by Chip White House
Written by Timo on September 21, 2009 – 9:55 am -Artrage was the Art Software Used For This Digital Speedpainting.
There is a ton of art software we can use to create a digital painting, Artrage is one of them. I have seen some of Chip’s work on Deviant before and like much of it. He posts many speed paintings so we have the opportunity to see the process. His deviant site is http://cuptow555.deviantart.com/. Chip uses primarily Artrage and I think he is on a PC platform.
