Your Questions About High Res Photos Free
Written by Timo on May 29, 2011 – 10:05 am -
Daniel asks…
High Res Nascar Stock Photography?
Can anyone find me a site with plenty of high res Nascar photos – royalty-free, of course.
Thanks

Timo answers:
Nope, get a press pass and get them yourself!!!

Helen asks…
I’m looking for photos of U of K vs. Louisville basketball games (playing each other). Where can I find them?
I’m looking for high-res photos for purchase, but preferably free. Anyone know of any terrific fan sites or quick ways to get the photos?
Aside from google images.
Anyway, I’ve finally found images on GettyImages. Thanks anyway!

Timo answers:
I’d check louisville.edu or uky.edu, click athletics, then see if you can order pictures through there.
Good luck!

John asks…
Where to buy stock photos online for use in design?
I’m the graphic designer and marketing director where I work. We currently use iStock Photo, but my employer is sick of such high prices for stock photos. I agree that iStock is really expensive, (even if the quality and selection are amazing). I like Shutterstock too, but again can’t seem to justify the cost no matter how hard I try to convince my boss.
Can anyone recommend any other sites? I’m trying to find a decent place where we can pay in CDN funds. I’m sick of using low res free stock photos I find elsewhere.

Timo answers:
My favorite stock photo website is http://www.photo-wizard.net
Here is where you can find some other inexpensive stock photo directories:
http://www.small-business-software.net/stock-photography.htm
Another site list can be found here:
http://www.webmaster-elements.com/webmaster-graphics/photos.htm
Goodluck

Chris asks…
Where can I find a free stock photo of Pegasus?
High-res, if possible.

Timo answers:
You want to buy a photo you can get for free in any search engine?
Anyways I found a whole lot on google.com

James asks…
Which picture sharing service should I use (See Details)?
Here’s what I want it to have:
-Keep photos in high res
-Allows people to vote on photos within an album
-Allows people to comment on photos
-FREE
-Lots of space
Thanks!

Timo answers:
Go for Microsoft Skydrive or spaces.

Your Questions About High Resolution Picture Editor
Written by Timo on May 28, 2011 – 10:05 pm -
Carol asks…
does a low resolution make a picture look worse than it would otherwise? because the online proofs of my pictu
it says that the online proofs are low resolution, and they look kind of messed up and it looks like I have a double chin in them. But I am really 5’7 and only weigh 125. And I certainly do NOT have a double chin. So I can’t figure out why they would look that bad. Even though we are not supposed to retain the proofs, I just held Ctrl+ print screen, and was able to save them to my system in this way, and used a photo editor to edit them. But even when I printed some of them out in the campus computer lab after editing them, they still looked wierd and unnatural. So I was just wondering if the low resolution is what is making the online proofs look so bad. I just want to know before I order any of the photos. If I were to order any of the photos and they were in normal, high quality resolution, would they still look that bad, or would they look better?

Timo answers:
The high resolution prints will look much clearer.. Not sure about the double chin part though.

Ruth asks…
What is the best video editor (free or inexpensive) for editing TV shows recorded in high definition on a PC?
I’ve recorded a bunch of TV shows with my TV tuner card (EVGA inDtube). Now I want to manually edit out all the commercials in my shows.
I tried to see if Windows Movie Maker would do the trick, but every time I open one of the video files, it gives me the error message:
“[filename] could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from”.
The recordings are stored as MPEGs, Layer 2.
Video codec: CyberLink Video/SP Decoder
Video resolution: 1920×1080 (interlaced)
Audio codec: CyberLink Audio Decoder
Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1
According to Windows Media Player, these files do not have any media usage rights. I captured these videos over the air using the tuner card’s antenna.
***I want to retain the 1920×1080 HD resolution AND the 5.1 surround sound from these shows. I do not want these videos to downgrade to stereo sound or a lower picture resolution.***
Does anybody know of any program that is capable of doing this?
Responses are much appreciated.
If it makes any difference, these HD video files are huge. A 60-minute show recorded in 1080i takes up about 6GB of hard disk space.

Timo answers:
Hey Icyheat06,
trakAxPC will be able to do this for you. It will allow to edit (cut out the commercials) and merge all the videos together again and make into a full length video. It is also a multimedia editing suite allowing you to mix and edit any combination of audio, video and photos. You can also use mpegs and mp4.
Check it out here: http://www.trakax.com
Hope this helps

Chris asks…
Picture editor?
Hello there people, I am looking for a program that you could make the resolution and the pixels of a photo to be higher, something like is use in the police movies to see the details of a security video.

Timo answers:
Not sure if this will help, but here you go anyways

Michael asks…
How do I provide scanned pictures for yearbook with the best resolution?
I scanned 4 pictures on on an HP5610xi using 200dpi and arranged them into a png file in Fireworks. I emailed them to the yearbook editor and he asked that I resend using 200 bpi because he wants them higher quality. The layout will be 8.5 X 5.5 – and I made those adjustments in the Image Size of Fireworks. How can I increase the quality of the photos?

Timo answers:
You should be using a minimum 300 dpi. Don’t just scale up your current photos. You’ve gotta START at 300 dpi or higher.
Be sure you do any color adjustments in CMYK color mode instead of RGB.
And use a lossless format like .tif instead of lossy jpg, png, or gif.
…that’s the basics anyway. I could go on for hours.

Your Questions About Painting With Adobe Photoshop
Written by Timo on May 28, 2011 – 10:05 am -
Daniel asks…
With Adobe photoshop, how do I make lines of a scanned pencil drawing more solid?
I’ve scanned penciled drawings into my computer. But when I go to paint them in Adobe photoshop, a lot of the lines come out incomplete. Is there a way I can fix this without having to ink my drawings first before scanning them?

Timo answers:
Dimitris’ suggestion about using Curves is good but maybe somewhat difficult. Using a Levels adjustment layer is a little easier.
Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Levels. Then move the center gray pointer to the right. As necessary to darken your pencil lines.

Nancy asks…
I need help with Paint or Adobe Photoshop?
Unfortunatly I can not paint on a computer. I am making a cover page for my short autobiographical story. Since yahoo won’t let me paste what I have so far I will have to describe it. It is the cover of another book with a different title.
http://www.universitychic.com/files/bigo…
Check this site out. It is the same except for the text. Although when I changed the text, there are patches of white rectangles where I cut out the original text to put in my text. The background orange is what I want the whole cover to be, but Photoshop nor Paint will let me use the orange as a background under my blue text. When I try to put in a background or paint it in myself, the text in blue dissapears in a sea of orange. I want to know how to get the my title page in orange background with text– in view– and in blue. I’m on yahoo messanger so if u want to contact me to send a file so you could help me, just IM me. RUREDDY88@YAHOO.COM OR RUREDDY88@HOTMAIL.COM (rureddy88 on msn messanger)

Timo answers:
I can probably help you, but the link you provided is not working. Please email me @ artistagent116@yahoo.com

David asks…
What is a good photo editing program ? Adobe photoshop or Corel Paint Shop ?
I wanted to buy myself a good photo editing program and was wondering what is a good one. I want to edit pics and do all kinds of special effects including the black and white pics with just one colour standing out ( like the reds or whatever other colour ) and all kinds of other edits.. What program would you recommend

Timo answers:
I’ve never worked with Corel Paint Shop, but I’ve worked with Adobe Photoshop and IT IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Adobe Photoshop lets you do pretty much everything imaginable to your photo, plus a couple of things you wouldn’t have even imagined
I’m not advertising Adobe Photoshop or anything like that, I was just really impressed by it

Donald asks…
How to brighten your Computer?
The computer I’m using looks darker, and no it’s not the web page. It’s the same with other programs like MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, ETC… How do I brighten it?

Timo answers:
Click on menu tab on your monitor. A window will pop up. Using the up and down keys, go to brightness. Next, use the plus and minus tabs next to the menu tab to choose how bright you want the monitor to be. When you are done, click on exit. The window will close and your monitor should be as bright as you want it to be. Hope this helps.

Thomas asks…
How to create image with a link in Adobe Photoshop? (Or Paint Shop Pro maybe?)?
I used to be good at making graphics, but I haven’t done any for ages and have totally forgotten loads.
I remember that I used to be able to make a layout or a bit of graphics in a program, I think it was Adobe Photoshop, and then go to some tool and create links in the image.
I remember drawing round the area I wanted to create a link in and then doing something and typing in the URL it would link to, and then I’d get the code for it.
Anyone know what I mean? It might not be Adobe Photoshop, it might have been Paint Shop Pro, or something else all together!
Just found it it is called ‘Image Mapping’. Still don’t know how to use Photoshop to do it though.

Timo answers:
I used to have a freeware utility that was great for making imagemaps, but can’t remember the name of it.
I did find a site that’ll let you do it for free online (see Source(s)).
After some searching on Photoshop CS3′s help files, I didn’t find any imagemapping capability there, though you can export Illustrator CS3 artwork in JPEG format along with imagemap code.
Good luck!

Yes, we all have our MP3 music collections, but what about a music VIDEO collection? I’ve been ripping my DVDs to stream to my home theater (via PS3). Typically a 5 minute video is about a 50MB MP4 file (high quality 720×480). Does anyone sell music video downloads of this quality or do I just have to buy more DVDs and rip them myself?

Why won’t the brush work for Photoshop Cs5 clone stamp tool?
I’ve watched a tutorial, and I’ve googled, but I can’t get the second step of clone stamp to work. I’ve done the alt-click for the source, and then left clicked over the section I wanted to paint over, but it didn’t work. Any ideas?
I am working on the duplicated background layer.

Timo answers:
Are you working on a fill or adjustment layer? If you have multiple layers open, you may be working on a layer that actually doesn’t have anything in it, or is a layer/clipping mask.
If I can help in any other way, just say so! Best of luck!

Susan asks…

The problem isn’t in Photoshop, but in your computer. You might not have enough memory.
